Saddle up and experience the joy of Western riding at Mountain View Equestrian, where lessons are thoughtfully built for every level — beginner to seasoned. Our passionate instructor guides you with skill, patience, and heart, helping you build a bond with your horse at every turn. To ensure a safe, enjoyable ride, all participants must wear a helmet, long pants, and closed-toe shoes, and return a signed liability form before their first session. Full lesson payment is due before your arrival.

Never been on a horse before? Our 30-minute intro lesson is the perfect place to start. You'll get a hands-on taste of grooming, saddling, and riding in a relaxed, no-pressure environment — just enough to know if this is your thing (spoiler: it usually is).

Our one-hour private lessons are designed around you — your pace, your goals, and your growth. Each session includes grooming, saddling, riding, and cool-down care, because horsemanship is about the whole experience. We believe riding is more than a hobby — it's a path to becoming confident, strong, and independent, not just as a rider, but as a person.
Our semi-private lessons are perfect for siblings, best friends, or any two riders who want to share the experience together. Just like our private lessons, each session focuses on growth, confidence, and helping every rider feel truly at home in the saddle. Learning alongside a friend makes every milestone even sweeter.

Our 30-minute youth lessons are designed for our youngest riders — typically between 2 and 5 — just beginning their horse journey. Each session includes grooming, saddling, riding, and cool-down care at a pace that's just right for them. Every child is different, and some are ready for a full hour — we're happy to work with what fits best. Starting young means a lifetime of confidence and adventure ahead.

Why haul out when the expertise can come to you? We offer private, semi-private, and group lessons at your facility, on your own horses — so riders learn in the environment they know best and training stays consistent with each horse's individual needs. Travel is the only added cost. The rest is all included.

These hour long lessons are perfect for current clients, clients who ride at other barns, or people who are trying to figure out whether or not horses are their passion. These lessons are not riding but deal with horse care. Participants will learn things such as groundwork with horses, what to do in a horse emergency, how to trailer a horse, horse behavior, feeding horses, etc. We firmly believe that being a reader requires a holistic view of the horse as a partner and fellow athlete.

Give the gift of the ride. Whether it's a birthday, holiday, or just-because moment, a gift certificate for riding lessons is the kind of present that truly stands out. Choose any amount, and we'll create a beautifully designed certificate personalized for the occasion — all set to unwrap and unforgettable from the first lesson on.
Ready to ride? Contact us with your child's age and skill level to get started! Most beginner riders start in private lessons to build confidence and foundational skills.
Your instructor will introduce you to the horse you will be riding, help you brush and bond with your horse, teach you some basics of horses and how to prepare them for your ride. None of this will be rushed. Once your horse is ready, your instructor will lead you to our private arena.
Your instructor will help you mount your horse and begin to teach you the basics of horsemanship. You will learn to steer; to stop and go; correct positioning of body, legs, and hands; and overall confidence on an animal that is much larger than any human.
You will begin to be able to trot, steer around cones and barrels, and sit correctly without constant help. This is where everything you've been working on will begin to click and you may begin to find your rhythm and what you enjoy.
Once you can trot independently, lessons become more about your personal goals. You may get to work over small jumps; around obstacle courses set up with poles, barrels, and cones; or you may begin to learn to lope. At this point, you should feel comfortable at both a walk and a trot and will be able to steer the horse confidently at both speeds.
For young or first-time riders, the first lesson focuses on comfort and confidence. Riders learn how to safely approach, groom, and lead the horse before mounting. We move at each child’s pace and prioritize positive early experiences.
Please keep in mind that different students progress at different levels. One rider may be loping after a month of lessons and another may still be working on their turns at a walk. Just because you are not progressing as quickly as you hoped does not mean you are behind. Please keep your confidence up and ride like the amazing rider you are!
