Beginner to advanced lessons for kids and adults. Safe, fun, and affordable riding.
At Mountain View Equestrian, our philosophy goes beyond teaching people how to ride—we’re here to help riders grow. Located in Golden, Colorado, we provide high-quality, affordable horseback riding lessons in a supportive and welcoming environment.
We believe horses are incredible teachers. Through riding, students build confidence, patience, responsibility, and a deeper sense of connection. Our program is rooted in respect—for the horse, for ourselves, and for one another—and we prioritize the safety and well-being of both horse and rider in everything we do.
Whether you’re stepping into the saddle for the first time or continuing your riding journey, we strive to create a down-to-earth space where riders of all ages feel comfortable, encouraged, and inspired to fall in love with the Western lifestyle.

Our lessons are led by a dedicated and experienced 17-year-old instructor who has spent years working closely with horses. Her passion, patience, and relatable teaching style create a safe, encouraging environment where riders of all levels can learn and grow with confidence.

We believe learning to ride should be fun, hands-on, and heart-driven. That’s why our lessons and events go beyond the saddle—we teach grooming, groundwork, horsemanship, and the day-to-day realities of life with horses.
At Mountain View Equestrian, we are more than just a lesson program — we are a community. We strive to build lasting friendships, positive memories, and meaningful experiences that riders carry with them long after they leave the barn. Our goal is for every rider to feel supported, proud of their progress, and excited to return each lesson to learn, grow, and share in the joy that horses bring to our lives.

We are so grateful to have found Abigail and Mountain View Equestrian! My kids attended summer camp last year and absolutely loved it—it was the perfect blend of fun, community, outdoor adventure, and hands‑on learning with horses. We also hosted my daughter’s birthday party there, and it was truly wonderful. Sweet, memorable, and such a special experience for her and her friends.
Now my daughter has started weekly lessons with Abigail, and it has been amazing to watch her skills and confidence grow. Abigail is an exceptional instructor—she teaches both the technical and intuitive aspects of riding, emphasizes proper horse care, and creates such a positive, encouraging environment. We couldn’t be happier and highly recommend Mountain View Equestrian!

My daughter has been taking lessons with Abigail over the past year, and has grown so much in her skill level and confidence during that time. Abigail is such a patient instructor who takes time to explain things while meeting each rider where they're at and helping them grow. My daughter has also participated in summer camp with Abigail, and loves her experience there so much she recently chose to hold her 12th birthday party at the ranch!

Mountain View Equestrian is a western horse riding school based in the foothills of Colorado that offers lessons for riders of all levels. We are dedicated to teaching people of all ages to love horses and the Western lifestyle.
Our lesson times are flexible and designed to fit each rider’s schedule as best as possible. We’re happy to work with you to find a time that feels convenient and comfortable. Feel free to reach out to learn more about current availability—we’d love to help you get started!
Your child can be any age to begin riding lessons with us. If you believe they will be able to focus for the duration of the lesson, they are ready!
You can pay for your lesson in many different ways! We accept venmo, zelle, paypal, or cash!
Riders should come prepared with closed-toe shoes, a helmet of any kind (bike helmets work perfectly fine), and long pants such as leggings or jeans for comfort and safety. Please also remember to bring a completed liability form to your lesson.
To help us keep our schedule running smoothly and ensure each rider has their reserved time, we kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel a lesson. Cancellations made within 24 hours will be charged the full lesson fee, as it can be difficult to fill that spot on short notice. We truly appreciate your understanding and cooperation!
When you pay for a riding lesson, you are investing in the ongoing care and safety of the horse, not just the time you spend riding. Horses require daily feeding, clean water, stall and pasture maintenance, regular exercise, and constant hands-on care. In addition, they must receive routine veterinary visits, farrier services, and proper conditioning to remain healthy, comfortable, and safe for riders. These essential costs continue every day, regardless of how often a rider attends lessons.
Lesson fees also help cover the upkeep of facilities and tack, as well as the training and experience of the instructor. Providing safe, reliable lesson horses and a well-maintained learning environment requires significant and continuous expense. While we are committed to keeping our lessons as affordable as possible, our pricing must reflect the true cost of responsible horse care. We will never compromise the health of our horses or the safety of our riders, and your lesson fees play a direct role in making that level of care possible.

A lot of riders love the riding aspect of horses, but many also ask us about the aspect of taking care of them on the ground. We would love to start offering more classes or clinics regarding this, but would love to gage interest. Please fill out this form to learn more and let us know what you think!
